Sewell Wallis are recruiting a Purchase Ledger Clerk for an Engineering business. This is a newly created role for their office in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, as they decentralise the work from their Head Office.

About the Role
As Purchase Ledger, you'll ensure supplier invoices and payments are processed with accuracy and in a timely manner. Take ownership and maintain accurate supplier accounts. Ensure account issues are resolved to minimise impact on operations whilst working within a purchase ledger team (of 3) to ensure accurate management across all ledgers. You'll report to a fantastic Financial Controller who will support you from day one.
Responsibilities
- Processing purchase invoices in the accounting system.
- Ensuring 3-way matching of purchase orders, goods receipt notes, and purchase invoices.
- Proactively resolving invoice variances with suppliers and operations.
- Raising BACS runs on a timely basis.
- Reconcile supplier statements in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with CIS and VAT.
- Manually code invoices and ensure all invoices are duly authorised.
- Perform regular housekeeping checks and ensure ledgers are tidy.
- Create and maintain supplier account data.
- Dealing with and resolving supplier queries.
- Dealing with and resolving site queries and requests.
- Dealing with auditor requests.
- Working to meet deadlines in accordance with the month-end closedown timetable.
- Raising ad hoc individual payment requests when necessary.
- Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance Department by assisting the Financial Controller in identifying and implementing improved processes and procedures.
- Other duties as and when requested by your Line Manager.

Requirements
- MUST have 5 years of purchase ledger experience
- Strong communicator, both verbal and written
- Experience resolving queries over email and the phone
- Strong IT understanding
- Attention to detail and well-organised
