The Opportunity

An independent specialist investment bank is looking to recruit an experienced Purchase Ledger Clerk to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounts payable professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, professional financial services environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, timely financial administration.

Working closely with the finance team, you'll play a key role in maintaining the purchase ledger, supporting month-end activities, and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process supplier invoices and credit notes, ensuring all approval procedures are followed.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Process employee expense claims accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepare and assist with supplier payment runs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date purchase ledger records.
  • Support month-end processes, including journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with ad hoc finance tasks and projects.
  • Respond to supplier queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls and company procedures.
  • Provide cover for colleagues within the finance team during periods of absence.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience within a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role.
  • A good understanding of accounting principles and finance processes.
  • Previous experience using Sage Line 50.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with suppliers and colleagues.
  • The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively within a team.
  • A proactive mindset with a willingness to improve processes where appropriate.
  • AAT qualified (or actively studying towards a recognised accounting qualification such as ACCA).
  • Full right to work in the UK.
