We are working with a well-established education business based in Cambridge who are looking for an experienced Interim Purchase Ledger Manager to join their finance team from 13 October 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced purchase ledger professional to take ownership of the purchase ledger function and ensure the smooth, accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments during an interim period.
The successful candidate will be confident working independently, managing priorities and maintaining strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Take day-to-day responsibility for the purchase ledger function.
- Manage the processing, coding and matching of supplier invoices.
- Ensure invoices are accurately recorded and authorised in line with company procedures.
- Oversee supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Manage supplier queries and maintain strong supplier relationships.
- Prepare and support weekly/monthly payment runs.
- Ensure the purchase ledger is kept accurate and up to date.
- Assist with month-end close and provide relevant purchase ledger reports and information.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and investigate any aged or disputed items.
- Maintain accurate supplier records and ensure appropriate controls are followed.
- Work closely with the wider finance team to resolve queries and improve processes where appropriate.
- Provide support with any additional finance duties required during the interim assignment.

About You
We Are Looking For Someone Who
- Has solid experience working within a purchase ledger or accounts payable environment.
- Has previous experience managing or overseeing a purchase ledger function.
- Is confident dealing with high volumes of invoices and supplier queries.
- Has excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Is comfortable working to deadlines, particularly around payment runs and month-end.
- Can work independently and quickly establish effective working relationships.
- Has strong Excel skills and experience using finance/accounting systems.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues and suppliers.
- Is proactive, reliable and able to hit the ground running in an interim position.
