Are you an experienced Purchase Ledger professional ready to take the next step in your career? We are looking for a Purchase Ledger Supervisor to join a busy finance team based in Derby. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced purchase ledger specialist who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and supporting a small team.

As Purchase Ledger Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operation of the purchase ledger function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. You will play a key role in supporting the wider finance team, ensuring controls and processes are followed and helping to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Supervise and support the day-to-day purchase ledger function
  • Lead, motivate and develop members of the purchase ledger team
  • Ensure invoices are accurately processed and authorised in a timely manner
  • Manage supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Oversee payment runs and ensure suppliers are paid accurately and on time
  • Deal with supplier queries and maintain strong working relationships
  • Monitor outstanding invoices and ensure aged items are appropriately investigated
  • Assist with month-end close and purchase ledger reporting
  • Ensure purchase ledger processes and controls are consistently followed
  • Identify and implement improvements to finance processes and procedures
  • Work closely with other departments to resolve invoice and payment queries

About You:

We are looking for someone with solid purchase ledger experience who is now ready to take on a supervisory position, or an experienced Purchase Ledger Supervisor looking for their next challenge.

You will ideally have:

  • Strong purchase ledger/accounts payable experience
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience, or the desire and capability to step into a leadership role
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Experience with supplier reconciliations and payment runs
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems
  • The ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
