Purchase Ledger Team Leader

🌍 Location: Westbury, Wiltshire
💰 Salary: Competitive, DOE
⏰ Hours: 40 hrs per week, Monday-Friday, 9:00 – 17:30

🗓️ Day to day, you will be:

As our Purchase Ledger Team Leader, you’ll play a key role in shaping a high-performing team while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Your days will be varied, rewarding, and filled with opportunities to make a real impact by implementing ideas and initiatives to help ensure efficiency.

  • Step up as a trusted deputy – support the Finance Manager by taking the lead on all purchase ledger matters whenever required.
  • A strong communicator and comfortable talking with suppliers.
  • Lead and support the team – oversee daily operations of the purchase ledger team, solve escalated issues, and make sure everything runs like clockwork.
  • Keep us on track – ensure deadlines are met and month-end close runs seamlessly across all ledgers.
  • Inspire and motivate – create a positive, efficient, and quality-driven working culture where the team feels supported and empowered especially during busy periods.
  • A problem solver - you are a solutions-driven individual.
  • Invest in people – monitor skills, identify training needs, and provide ongoing coaching to help every team member grow and succeed.
  • Guide and develop talent – manage onboarding and training for new hires, while supporting regular 1:1s, probation reviews, and performance appraisals.
  • Own the numbers – deliver accurate and insightful reporting for the Finance Manager, including aged creditors, reconciliations, duplicate invoice checks, and verification analysis.
  • Protect accuracy and quality – review work to ensure accuracy, resolve issues, and put improvements in place where needed.
  • Collaborate on key accounts and ensuring regular, accurate reporting – handle aged creditor analysis, unallocated reporting, verification analysis, duplicate invoicing assessment and rectification, reporting and monitoring efficient and accurate supplier statement reconciliations, resolving held invoices on the ledgers, reconciliations, and maintenance of key accounts, company payments, and administration of invoices for all businesses within the group.
  • Adapt and support – step in with ad-hoc duties to keep the Finance function moving forward.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

  • Experience working in a Group setting, so you are used to working across multiple businesses.
  • A strong and resilient, experienced leader who inspires those around them and understands the commercial nature of their role.
  • Excellent communication, motivational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Ability to plan, organise, delegate, use initiative, provide leadership to staff, and report to management.
  • Self-confident, assertive, and ability to adapt.
  • Professional approach and customer service orientation.
