Purchaser - Commercial Solar
Cheshunt, Hertfordshire
£40,000
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join our Commercial Solar procurement team. The successful candidate will play a key role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services essential for the delivery of our commercial solar PV projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced renewable energy environment, utilising advanced ERP systems to optimise procurement processes and support project delivery.
The ideal applicant will possess strong negotiation skills, solid understanding of logistics, and experience managing supply chains within a technical, engineering, construction, or renewable energy setting.
Duties
- Manage the end-to-end procurement of solar PV components, including panels, inverters, mounting systems, cabling, batteries, and balance-of-system equipment.
- Use ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle EBS to manage purchase orders, approvals, inventory levels, and supplier data efficiently.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms to ensure best value without compromising project timelines or quality standards.
- Coordinate closely with logistics, warehouse, and project delivery teams to ensure timely arrival of materials to both warehouse and project sites.
- Analyse supply chain and procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimise inventory levels, and reduce lead-time risks.
- Maintain accurate and compliant records of purchase transactions, supplier performance, and contractual agreements.
- Build and maintain strong, reliable relationships with solar product vendors, manufacturers, and distributors, both UK-based and international.
- Monitor market developments, including pricing trends, supplier availability, and emerging solar technologies or components that may benefit the business.
- Support project teams with up-to-date costings, lead times, and alternative sourcing options where required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
