Purchasing Assistant

Hays are delighted to be partnered with a globally recognised premium automotive manufacturer and mobility services provider. Renowned for innovation, sustainability, and excellence, our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join their purchasing team and support a range of operational procurement activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, managing data, and supporting business-critical purchasing processes.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Purchasing Assistant, you'll provide administrative and operational support across a high-volume purchasing function, ensuring processes are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring supplier certification status, tracking renewals and managing expiry dates
- Requesting supplier sustainability self-assessment questionnaires and supporting supplier onboarding through the B2B portal
- Processing low-value, high-volume purchase orders in line with established purchasing procedures
- Assisting with tender management activities and maintaining accurate procurement records and documentation
- Updating purchasing trackers, databases, and reporting dashboards
- Supporting the wider purchasing team with day-to-day administrative tasks

About You
We're looking for an organised and proactive individual who can follow established processes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an administrative or office-based environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Teams
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- GCSEs, A-Levels, or equivalent qualifications
- Strong English language skills
