The Role
As our Purchasing and Stock Manager, your role is critical to the success and growth of our business. Leading a small team, and working in close alignment with our production planning manager, you will take full ownership of our supply chain. This is a hands-on high impact position where you will oversee material purchases, lead cost reduction projects, improve efficiencies internally, manage stock reconciliations, and develop effective purchasing methods and strategies.
Main responsibilities of the role
- Creating, maintaining, and expediting purchase orders for our production team, R&D department, and general sundry office requirements in line with business needs to ensure availability of stock
- Liaising with suppliers, transport providers, and internal teams to ensure materials arrive on time
- Build, maintain, and manage strong relationships with our suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and lead times with suppliers
- Solve invoice queries and delivery problems
- Take full control of stock inventory and stock taking, ensuring any stock discrepancies are fully investigated and solved with appropriate adjustments
- Maintain a robust system for returns to suppliers and non-conforming supplier
- Monitor supplier performance in line with our ISO accreditation requirements
- Ensure compliance with internal processes and systems, supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Produce inventory reports and operational KPI information when required
- Manage a small team working in goods inwards and stores

What we are looking for

- At least 2 years of previous experience within a procurement role
- Experience using an MRP/ERP system
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Stock control / Inventory management experience
- Ability to manage and negotiate with suppliers on lead times, pricing, and order fulfilment
- Good people skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- Some people management experience
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- A proactive and reliable team player
Desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing company
- Electronic component purchasing

Salary of £34k to £38k, dependent upon experience
