PURCHASING ASSISTANT
AliveDx is recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant to join the Procurement team based near Edinburgh (EH26 0BF). The role is a full-time permanent position working flexible working hours.
This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and play an important role in supporting the purchasing activities that keep our business running effectively.
YOUR MISSION
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Creating and maintaining purchase orders in our MRP system, TROPOS, in line with approved requisitions.
- Ensuring purchasing and supplier master data is accurate and up to date, including pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and supplier information.
- Monitoring purchase order acknowledgements and delivery dates, proactively following up with suppliers, and escalating potential supply risks where required.
- Building effective working relationships with suppliers, responding to order queries, and supporting basic commercial discussions within agreed parameters.
- Preparing procurement reports covering open orders, delivery performance, inventory exposure, and purchase price variance (PPV).
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure purchasing activities reflect demand and wider business priorities.
- Supporting procurement and cross-functional projects through data preparation, action tracking, and delivery of agreed activities.

YOUR COMPETENCIES
- Education to HNC, HND, or degree level, or demonstrable relevant experience.
- Experience in operational purchasing, procurement support, or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Experience using ERP or MRP systems, with an understanding of purchase orders and supplier management would be beneficial.
- Experience within a regulated manufacturing, life sciences, or IVD environment would be advantageous.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to work confidently with data and produce basic reports.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing activities and maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly when working with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- A genuine willingness to learn, develop new skills, and take on feedback.
