Job Summary
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will support the buying team in sourcing, purchasing, and managing the inventory of materials, products, and services needed for the company. You will work closely with suppliers, internal departments, and the Purchasing Manager to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
Responsibilities
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers and vendors.
- Help manage the procurement process from order creation to delivery.
- Maintain and update accurate records of purchases, suppliers, and inventories.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure timely reordering to prevent shortages.
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand purchasing needs and ensure proper supply.
- Review and process purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Assist in managing supplier relationships and resolving any issues related to orders or deliveries.
- Track market trends to support informed purchasing decisions.
- To assist and maintain the Company ‘Approved Supplier List’.
- To support the Sales Department by producing material costs.
- Other ad-hoc duties when required such as assisting with Goods in, Despatch, Material Preparation for Production.
- Annual stock take.

Education & Experience Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in procurement or purchasing (preferred but not required).
- 1+ years of experience in Engineering (preferred but not required).
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with procurement software is a plus (Sage).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ideally from an Engineering background (Ideal but not essential).
