The Role

We are seeking a proactive and organised Purchasing Assistant to support the procurement function of a growing and fast-paced business. You will play a key role in ensuring stock availability, maintaining supplier relationships, monitoring purchasing activity, and supporting the smooth operation of the supply chain.

This position would suit someone with previous purchasing, procurement, buying, supply chain, or stock control experience who enjoys working with suppliers, analysing data, and ensuring products are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing requirements
  • Raise and process purchase orders accurately and efficiently
  • Research and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors
  • Track orders and ensure goods are delivered on time
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing where appropriate
  • Update internal systems with order details, supplier information, prices, and delivery schedules
  • Conduct market research to identify pricing trends and cost-saving opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of invoices, supplier agreements, and contracts
  • Follow up with suppliers regarding outstanding, delayed, or amended orders
  • Liaise with warehouse and operational teams to ensure deliveries arrive in good condition and match order specifications
  • Resolve supplier queries and discrepancies relating to orders, deliveries, and pricing
  • Support inventory management and help minimise stock shortages or excess stock
  • Assist with continuous improvement of procurement and purchasing processes

About You

  • Previous experience in a Purchasing, Procurement, Buyer, or similar roles
  • Good understanding of purchasing and supply chain processes
  • Strong IT skills- Microsoft Outlook & Excel skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Experience conducting supplier research and negotiating with vendors would be advantageous
