Are you an organised and proactive Purchasing Assistant looking to develop your career within a successful engineering and manufacturing business?
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation renowned for producing high-quality equipment through engineering excellence. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Assistant, Procurement Administrator or Supply Chain Administrator to join a busy team where you'll play a key role in ensuring materials, components and services are delivered on time to support production and customer demand.
This temporary position offers the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The Role
As a Purchasing Assistant, you will support purchasing and supply chain activities, working closely with suppliers and internal departments to help maintain efficient operations and material availability.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Raising and managing purchase orders
- Liaising with suppliers to obtain quotations and delivery updates
- Expediting orders and following up on overdue deliveries
- Monitoring stock levels and supporting replenishment activities
- Maintaining supplier, pricing and purchasing data within the ERP system
- Assisting with supplier sourcing and onboarding activities
- Supporting supplier performance monitoring and reporting
- Resolving invoice, goods receipt and purchase order queries
- Working closely with Production, Engineering, Planning and Stores teams
- Producing purchasing and supply chain reports
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the department
- Building positive relationships with suppliers and stakeholders

About You
We're looking for someone who has experience within a purchasing, procurement, supply chain or buying environment and enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
You'll Have
- Previous experience in a Purchasing Assistant, Procurement Assistant, Purchasing Administrator or similar role
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- Experience raising purchase orders and liaising with suppliers
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Experience using ERP, MRP or SAP systems
- The ability to work effectively with multiple departments and suppliers
Desirable Skills
- Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Exposure to a global supplier base
- CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS
- Experience reading technical drawings
