Role Description
The Purchasing Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Ely, supporting the Buyer with day-to-day purchasing activities and subcontractor-related queries.
Once fully trained, and where workload allows, you will also have the opportunity to support our Planning team with a variety of administrative tasks, giving you exposure to different areas of the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working as part of a team, has strong organisational skills and enjoys a fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities
- Assist Buyer with day-to-day administrative duties.
- Subcon Tooling Sheet / WOBOM orders.
- Update Sales Order Report.
- Chasing Suppliers for delivery dates on PO’s.
- Attend Production Meetings on an as-required basis.
- Provide holiday cover for the Buyer as required.
- Assist Despatch and Booking in Goods.
- Ensure Driver Schedules Reflect Sub Con Collect/Delivery.
Additional Responsibilities
- Manage and Maintain Work Order process.
- Provide administrative and system support to the operations team, including resolving paperwork and ERP queries.
- Process and send Sales Order Acknowledgements to the customer.
- Update internal Sales Order Report with comments.
- Inputting Data entry onto ERP system.
- Checking material availability, alongside production dates.
- Generate system forecasts for suppliers liaising with purchasing.
- Review Stocking Levels for parts internally.
- Liaising with Customers on orderbooks, enquiries, pull forwards, excess stock & orders completed early.
- Support stock control processes – with booking in & issuing parts for operations.
- Aid Operations planning in day-to-day planning functions.

Other Duties
- Ensure all company standards are promoted and maintained.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Ensure commitment and application of the company Quality, Environmental and HS Policies.
- Carry out any other duties which may from time to time be reasonably requested to assist in the day-to-day running of the company.
- As per your contract of employment, the Company reserves the right to vary or amend the duties and responsibilities of the post holder at any time according to the needs of the Company’s business.
- It is the intention that this role will be reviewed after 6 months to determine if the split between Buying and Planning needs to be adjusted.
