About The Role
A Purchasing Clerk/Stock Controller is sought for a full-time, temp-to-perm post in Burton upon Trent, offering £15.38 to £17.94 hourly. Fixed shifts run Monday to Friday, 8:30am until 4:30pm. Duties cover raising purchase orders, liaising with suppliers on pricing, availability, and lead times, updating supplier price lists, watching stock levels, and keeping precise inventory records. Applicants must bring prior experience within purchasing, procurement, or stock control, plus solid administrative ability and confident supplier communication. The assignment may convert to a permanent contract for the right person.

We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Purchasing Clerk / Stock Controller to join their busy team in Burton-on-Trent.
Pay Rate: £15.38 - £17.94 per hour
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm
This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or stock control is essential, with a strong focus on purchasing administration, supplier management, and maintaining accurate stock records.

Key Responsibilities
- Raise and process purchase orders with suppliers
- Liaise with suppliers regarding orders, pricing, availability, and delivery times
- Maintain accurate supplier price lists
- Monitor stock levels and arrange replenishment when required
- Manage internal stock transfers
- Receive, check, and store incoming goods
- Organise and track outgoing shipments
- Maintain accurate purchasing and stock records using the company CRM/system
- Carry out regular stock checks and investigate discrepancies
- Identify and report damaged or missing stock
- Ensure products are correctly organised and stored
- Assist with general purchasing and stock administration
- Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal teams
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised working environment
- Follow all relevant health and safety procedures
About You
Purchasing Clerk / Purchasing experience is highly desirable, with previous Stock Control experience essential.

- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, or stock control
- Experience raising and processing purchase orders
- Experience dealing with suppliers and managing supplier information
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
- Good IT and computer system skills
- The ability to maintain accurate records and identify discrepancies
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
