Purchasing & Inventory Controller (43-50K)
Main Job Purpose: Responsible for the full purchasing cycle, including identifying new suppliers, negotiating costs, raising purchase orders, monitoring supplier delivery performance, and updating internal systems, while seeking opportunities to optimise inventory holding. Our office is located in South Cerney.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Sales and suppliers to produce forecasts of purchase requirements and schedule orders for regular deliveries, achieving a fill rate above 92% while keeping inventory within 80 to 120 days of sales.
- Work with suppliers, PLM, Engineering, and the wider international purchasing team to identify opportunities for average annualised cost savings of approximately 10%, through negotiation or qualification of new suppliers, while maintaining quality and service levels.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues relating to quality, cost discrepancies, shortages, and delivery delays.
- Meet with internal stakeholders to present KPI information, capture business priorities, and translate them into supply chain strategies.
- Take responsibility for all inventory, including qualification stock, customer return stock, quarantine stock, and supplier return stock. Review excess and obsolete stock and make recommendations for rotation, sales promotions, or write-offs.
- Perform data analysis to recommend process and control improvements.
- Support the Director of Operations with certification and compliance workstreams.
- Support the Warehouse Manager with inventory spot checks and monthly cycle counts.

Essential
- At least 3 years’ experience in purchasing or inventory management roles within the IT hardware industry.
- Excellent understanding of global procurement processes and complex supply chains within the IT hardware industry.
- Good knowledge of inventory classification methods (ABC value analysis and HML price analysis) to drive inventory management and fill rate strategies.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong knowledge of ERP applications (Sage ERP) and data reporting/business intelligence tools (Power BI).
- Excellent communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
- Strong project management skills.
Desirable
- CIPS Level 4 qualification or above.
- Technical knowledge of IT hardware products.
