A growing and well-established UK manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to take ownership of procurement and supplier management activities across the organisation.
Reporting directly to the senior leadership team, this is a standalone role offering significant autonomy and responsibility. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient sourcing of raw materials and services, maintaining supply continuity, managing supplier relationships, and identifying opportunities for commercial improvement.
Your new role
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Manage sourcing activities to ensure cost-effective procurement of raw materials and services.
- Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and payment terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to secure long-term supply partnerships.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Attend regular production planning meetings to ensure material availability and support operational requirements.
- Maintain stock levels to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Analyse market trends and supplier pricing to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Manage purchase orders, supplier invoices, and procurement-related reporting.
- Provide regular commercial updates to senior management regarding supplier performance, pricing movements, and market conditions.

What you'll need to succeed
- Proven purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
- Commercially astute with good analytical and financial understanding.
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving capability and ability to react quickly to supply chain challenges.
- Experience managing raw material sourcing and supplier contracts.
- ERP system experience is desirable.
