Job Description
TransDev is a major industrial B2B distribution company that also manufactures its own components. A family business with 90 staff and a turnover exceeding £11 million, we have been trading for over 60 years and are a financially strong organisation with ambitious growth plans.
We are now seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager, working as part of a buying team. TransDev has a reputation for excellent customer service, high-quality products, and swift delivery times, this position requires an experienced Purchasing professional with experience placing orders for large quantities of stock, whilst adhering to strict deadlines. This is absolutely essential, and you must be able to demonstrate this at interview stage.
This exciting position would suit an existing Head of Purchasing or a Senior Buyer who is looking to take the next step in their career and is experienced with estimating, planning, forecasting, expediting and data analysis, as you will be responsible for the management of lead times, quality, ordering large volumes of stock as well as numerous smaller one-off buy-to-order purchases.

As part of the Management team, you will report to and participate in regular management meetings, as well as undertaking the day-to-day management of the team of 2 Buyers and their ongoing development. You must have previous experience within Purchasing, Buying, Procurement and Stock Control. You will be a forward-thinking individual who is happy to be hands-on, with an analytical mind and the confidence to suggest ideas for improvement in a positive manner. What is essential is previous experience of working with ERP/MRP systems, as well as advanced Excel and database skills.
Qualifications:
- Preferably hold relevant qualifications e.g. CIPS
- Have experience working within a similar industry such as distribution / ecommerce / online retail / engineering / manufacturing.
- A hands-on proactive approach ordering large amounts of stock whilst adhering to strict lead times
- Experience of dealing with fast moving goods where stock comes in and out very quickly
- Experience with data analysis, forecasting, materials planning, estimating and expediting is essential
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience of developing / managing a team of Buyers
- Experience with ERP/MRP (Epicor an advantage)
