As Purchasing & Sourcing Manager at Commercial
As Purchasing & Sourcing Manager at Commercial, you will lead the Purchasing function comprising two complementary sub-teams, the Purchasing Administration team and the Procurement Specialist team. You will use strong leadership, commercial judgement and business acumen to guide the team on complex and high-value opportunities, understand both customer requirements and supplier perspectives, and deliver a consistent, cost-effective, efficient and responsive service.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead, support and inspire the Purchasing Administration and Procurement Specialists teams, adapting your management approach to their distinct operational and commercial priorities.
- Set clear service standards, priorities, KPIs and SLAs, holding both teams accountable for consistent, accurate and timely delivery.
- Lead complex supplier negotiations and confidently challenge pricing, lead times, service levels and commercial terms to achieve the best overall value.
- Coach Procurement Specialists on complex and high-value opportunities, combining customer insight, supplier understanding and commercial judgement.
- Maintain strong ERP-system discipline, data accuracy and efficient purchasing processes across the administration team.
- Direct sourcing activity across PPE & Workwear, Facilities, Retail Equipment and wider business-supplies categories in response to customer needs.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that support customer demand, business value and sustainable growth.
- Source, assess and manage suppliers to secure appropriate quality, availability, service and total cost.
- Monitor market trends, pricing, product availability and supplier capability to identify risks and commercial opportunities.
- Support internal pricing teams with a robust and responsive service for existing customer requirements and new opportunities.
- Review and improve procurement processes and policies, applying best practice and a measure, manage and change approach.
- Hold regular supplier account reviews and act where performance falls below agreed expectations.
- Remain composed and decisive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities and urgent customer requirements.

About You
- Demonstrable experience of leading and developing teams, with the ability to support, inspire and hold people accountable.
- Strong and proven negotiation and influencing skills, including experience challenging supplier pricing, lead times, service levels and commercial terms.
- Strong commercial and business acumen, with the judgement to guide complex and high-value opportunities.
- The ability to understand customer requirements and supplier perspectives and translate both into practical, commercially sound outcomes.
- Experience of ERP systems and a strong appreciation of process discipline and data accuracy.
- CIPS Level 4. Applicants without this qualification will be considered only in exceptional circumstances where they can demonstrate outstanding equivalent capability and experience.

Compensation
This role offers a base salary of up to £45,000 per annum, an annual bonus scheme of up to £3,000, and a hybrid working structure with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week.
