About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Python Developer (Backend) to join our client's dynamic engineering team on a remote basis, with quarterly planning sessions held in Bristol. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a greenfield project focused on developing a new service platform centered around CRM-related functionalities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services that support customer-facing applications and enhance overall platform capabilities.

The position involves working within an innovative environment that encourages collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence. You will be part of a forward-thinking team responsible for building robust APIs, supporting cloud-based data solutions within AWS, and contributing to strategic architecture decisions. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with proven experience in backend development using Python. A solid understanding of cloud environments, particularly AWS, is essential. Candidates should have experience working with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and DynamoDB. Hands-on experience in building and supporting production-grade backend services, coupled with a problem-solving mindset, is crucial. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a collaborative approach to software development will ensure success in this role.

Additional desirable qualifications include experience with event-driven architecture, microservices, distributed systems, and CRM platforms. Effective communication skills and a product-focused approach are vital for thriving within our client's innovative environment.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities for this role include:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining backend services using Python, ensuring they are scalable and performant.
  • Building APIs and event-driven services to support customer-facing applications, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver new platform features.
  • Developing and optimizing data solutions within AWS cloud environments, requiring a good understanding of cloud architecture and data management.
  • Contributing to architectural decisions, establishing best practices for service development, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engaging in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to foster a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Focusing on automation, testing, and ensuring the reliability and security of backend systems.
