We are seeking a highly skilled Python/Django Software Engineer to join our dynamic team working on a critical central government programme. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and enhancement of secure, reliable, and user-centric digital services hosted on AWS. The successful candidate will work remotely, with an expectation to attend in-person meetings in London approximately once or twice a month. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization tools such as Docker will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively within Agile teams, communicating clearly and collaborating closely with cross-functional colleagues. Previous experience in the public sector or with government projects, along with knowledge of the GDS Service Standard and Design System, will be considered a plus.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
