Core Python Developer
Location: Northampton, UK
Working Model: Hybrid – 2 days per week onsite
Contract Duration: 6-12 months
Experience: 6–8 years
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Core Python Developer with 6–8 years of hands-on experience in Python development, data processing, file handling, testing, and API integration. The successful candidate will work closely with data analysts, data engineers, and other developers to translate business and analytical requirements into robust and scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Python scripts and applications for data processing and transformation.
- Work extensively with Pandas and NumPy for data analysis and manipulation.
- Develop solutions using Python file-processing libraries and other relevant Python libraries.
- Handle structured and unstructured data using CSV, JSON, XML, and APIs.
- Develop and optimise algorithms for efficiency, scalability, and performance.
- Write and maintain comprehensive unit and regression tests.
- Work with testing frameworks such as Pytest and unittest.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and development teams to understand project requirements.
- Translate analytical and business requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot issues and ensure high-quality software delivery.
- Document technical workflows, processes, and solutions.
- Participate effectively within an Agile/Scrum development environment.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
- 6–8 years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Core Python programming.
- Strong hands-on experience with Pandas and NumPy.
- Good knowledge of Python file handling and processing.
- Experience working with CSV, JSON, XML, and APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Pytest and/or unittest.
- Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with unit testing and regression testing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with Jupyter Notebooks or similar data science environments.
- Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Knowledge of SonarQube.
- Understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, JIRA, or Agile Central.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing business requirements, workloads, and schedules.
- Candidates available at short notice are preferred.
