Job Introduction
Python Developer
£65,000 - £70,000 per annum
Location: London, Hybrid
Contract: 6 month FTC
As our Python Developer (Data Products), you’ll turn data and insight into intuitive, scalable applications that help our people make better, data-driven decisions. Using Python, Streamlit and SQL, you’ll build self-service data products that make complex information easier to access and use across Saga.
Working alongside stakeholders, analysts, data scientists and engineers, you’ll bring ideas to life, improve efficiency and create real business value. You’ll also help shape how we build data products at Saga, sharing your expertise and championing great software development practices along the way.

This role requires you to be working from our London Kings Cross office every Tuesday, as well as monthly trips to our Folkestone, Kent office.
Role Responsibility
As our Python Developer, you will be responsible for designing, building and deploying scalable data products and applications using Python, Streamlit and SQL that enable self-service analytics and support business decision-making.
Other accountabilities include:
- Developing intuitive and user-friendly solutions that translate complex data into accessible insights and drive adoption across the business.
- Working closely with business stakeholders, analysts, data scientists and engineers to gather requirements, prioritise development and deliver solutions aligned to business objectives. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Applying software development best practices including testing, version control, documentation and code review to ensure solutions are reliable, maintainable and fit for purpose.
- Ensuring applications are built on trusted, high-quality data sources, collaborating with Data Engineering and Technology teams to resolve data and integration issues.
- Operating effectively within an agile environment, contributing to sprint planning, iterative development and continuous delivery.
- Sharing expertise and best practices with colleagues, supporting the development of Python, Streamlit and data product capabilities across the team.
- Staying abreast of emerging technologies, development approaches and industry trends, identifying opportunities to enhance data products, improve efficiency and deliver greater business value.

The Ideal Candidate
You’ll have proven commercial experience as a Python Developer, Data Product Developer, Analytics Engineer or similar role.
It is essential that you have experience building and deploying data products and self-service analytics applications using Python, Streamlit and SQL.
Skills and experience required include:
- Strong experience working with cloud data platforms (preferably Snowflake) and large-scale datasets.
- Experience delivering products through the full development lifecycle, from requirements and prototyping to deployment and support.
- Proven ability to transform analytical models, data assets and business requirements into user-friendly, production-ready solutions.
- Experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders in agile, cross-functional environments.
- Experience applying software engineering best practices, including testing, source control, code review and documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and continuously improve product performance and
- Experience mentoring colleagues and promoting knowledge sharing and best practices
- Confident holding a technical position with third-party suppliers and Group colleagues, constructively
