About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Python Developer to join our high-performing regulatory technology team within TEKsystems. This contract role is based in Bromley, UK, and offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical systems supporting regulatory reporting platforms for a leading investment bank. The successful candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable Python-based solutions that ensure compliance with complex financial regulations. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including regulatory and business stakeholders, to deliver innovative solutions that handle high transaction volumes efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services, data processing, and software engineering best practices, with a focus on building resilient, high-performance applications.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical expertise and industry experience, including:
- Proven experience in developing applications using Python, with a strong understanding of software engineering principles.
- Experience working within investment banking, capital markets, or financial services environments.
- Hands-on experience building scalable data processing pipelines capable of handling large volumes of financial transactions daily.
- Solid knowledge of transaction processing, financial data flows, and regulatory reporting systems.
- Proficiency in developing APIs and web applications using frameworks like Flask or similar.
- Advanced SQL skills, particularly with Oracle Database, and experience in database development.
- Strong data analysis and manipulation skills, especially with Pandas.
- Experience with reconciliation, validation, or control frameworks to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Understanding of CI/CD practices, software release management, and version control systems like Git.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working directly with business and regulatory reporting teams.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Python applications supporting regulatory reporting and compliance functions.
- Collaborating with Business Analysts, Compliance teams, and Transaction Reporting SMEs to translate complex regulatory requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Building highly scalable data processing pipelines capable of handling millions of daily financial transactions efficiently.
- Conducting detailed data analysis, investigations, and root-cause assessments related to reporting breaches and regulatory inquiries.
- Developing reconciliation and validation frameworks to ensure reporting accuracy and data integrity across systems.
- Supporting remediation initiatives by designing features such as historical replay and data reconstruction capabilities.
- Driving system enhancements focused on improving performance, reliability, auditability, and operational resilience.
- Managing and supporting software releases throughout the development lifecycle, including testing, deployment, and production support.
- Collaborating with cross-functional technology teams to implement regulatory change programs and strategic platform enhancements.
