Full Stack Python Developer
💰 £400/day (Inside IR35) 📍 London (3 days per week onsite)
📅 12-Month Contract
Our client is looking for an experienced Full Stack Python Developer to design, develop and support enterprise-grade applications within a large financial services environment. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong Python, Flask, MongoDB, JavaScript and Linux/Shell scripting experience. You’ll build scalable backend services and APIs alongside modern web interfaces, while contributing to application performance, automation, production support and engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable applications and microservices using Python and Flask.
- Build and maintain REST APIs and integrations with enterprise platforms.
- Develop reusable Python libraries, utilities and backend components.
- Build responsive front-end applications using JavaScript and React or Angular.
- Integrate front-end applications with Python-based backend services.
- Design and optimise MongoDB schemas, queries, indexes and aggregation pipelines.
- Develop Shell/Bash scripts for automation, monitoring and operational processes.
- Troubleshoot applications within Linux/Unix environments and perform root cause analysis.
- Support CI/CD, automated deployments and DevSecOps engineering practices.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, technical design and documentation.
- Support high-availability, business-critical applications and resolve production issues.
- Collaborate with architects, QA, infrastructure and globally distributed engineering teams.

Essential Skills
- Strong hands-on Python development experience.
- Strong commercial experience with Flask.
- Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of OOP, multithreading and concurrent processing.
- Front-end development experience with JavaScript and React.js or Angular.
- Strong MongoDB / NoSQL experience, including indexing, aggregation and query optimisation.
- Strong Linux/Unix experience.
- Hands-on Shell/Bash scripting experience.
- Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins and Jira.
- Strong experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.

Desirable Skills
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Kafka / event-driven architectures
- Redis
- Splunk / Grafana
- AWS, Azure or GCP
- CI/CD and DevSecOps
- High-availability and mission-critical applications
- Financial Services / Capital Markets experience
- Trading, Risk, Investment Banking or Wealth Management technology exposure
8+ years of software development experience is preferred.
