About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Python Developer to join our dynamic delivery team at LMA Recruitment. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications that support public sector initiatives. As a hands-on developer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data analysts, and infrastructure specialists, to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python development, experience with web frameworks such as Flask, and familiarity with cloud deployment using AWS. The successful candidate will possess hands-on software development experience, particularly with Python and web-based applications. A solid understanding of front-end technologies including Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML is essential. Proven experience in designing and working with SQL databases to support application functionality and reporting is required. Practical knowledge of deploying and supporting applications on AWS, utilizing infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, is highly desirable. Experience working with containerized environments using Docker and serverless components will be an advantage. Candidates should have demonstrated success delivering software within UK public sector programmes or organizations. Strong problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in deadline-driven environments are crucial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when engaging with non-technical stakeholders, are also essential.
Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Core Python and web frameworks such as Flask, ensuring high standards of code quality and security.
- Create and maintain front-end components utilizing VueJS, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to deliver accessible and user-friendly interfaces.
- Design, optimize, and manage SQL databases to support application functionalities and reporting requirements.
- Implement cloud-hosted solutions leveraging AWS core services, integrating infrastructure-as-code practices with tools like Terraform.
- Utilize Docker containers and serverless architectures to deploy and manage applications effectively.
- Integrate applications with upstream and downstream systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless data flow across platforms.
- Contribute to data analysis and basic visualization efforts to support operational insights and system monitoring.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
- Participate in code reviews, continuous integration, and deployment processes to uphold quality standards.
