Software Engineer | Trading Technology Start up | Up to £120,000 + 15% Minimum Bonus | London, Tower Bridge (Hybrid)
A Software Engineer is needed for a fast-growing fintech start-up sitting right at the center of how modern trading desks operate. This business has built the platform that brokers and traders rely on to manage client relationships, market data, and real-time trading intelligence, and it plays directly into the world of compliance, market surveillance, and regulatory risk. This is a high-impact hire, joining a small, sharp engineering team with genuine input into technical direction from day one.
Trading desks generate huge volumes of client communication across calls, WhatsApp, email, and more, and historically this has all lived across disconnected channels with no single source of truth.
This platform was built to solve that, centralizing communication, market data, and stock notifications into one live system that gives traders real-time intelligence on when to act. It also plays a critical role in protecting the business, capturing data across channels to guard against market manipulation and insider trading risk, and to preserve institutional knowledge if a trader or broker leaves the desk. This is the kind of problem that resonates with anyone who has spent time close to markets, trading, or financial services more broadly.

You'll be working in a business with a genuine commodities and trading market focus, alongside traders, brokers, and senior leadership who understand markets inside out. 💰 Salary: Up to £120,000 + 15% minimum bonus
🗺️ Location: London, Tower Bridge (Hybrid, more office time during probation while you get up to speed, moving to greater flexibility afterwards)

Key Responsibilities:
- 5-6+ years' experience as a software/systems engineer
- A true software engineer rather than just a coder, someone who understands how computer systems and architecture work, not just how to write to a spec
- Strong experience in at least one other backend language (Java, Rust, Go, or similar), alongside solid Python fundamentals (doesn't need to be your current day-to-day language)
- Proven end-to-end experience: building, testing, and shipping features across the full software development lifecycle
- Experience in a SaaS / software as a service environment
- Strong preference for candidates with a background in commodities, fintech, financial trading, or banking, smaller fintech experience is a plus
- Comfortable working directly with traders and clients to inform product development, with strong communication skills
- Degree in computing or a related technical field desirable but not essential
Process:
Multi-stage interview process including an initial general call, a technical conversation, an in-person technical/coding stage, and a final in-person culture fit conversation.
