Python Developer

Location: Ipswich - Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Rate: £420 per day inside IR35
Duration: 12 months initially

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Python Developer to develop and maintain automation solutions, backend services and tooling supporting large-scale telecom network operations. Working closely with QA, Network Engineering and DevOps teams, you will build REST APIs, automation scripts and data-driven applications that improve testing, monitoring and operational efficiency across 5G and enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Python-based automation frameworks and scripts for testing, data processing and operational workflows.
  • Build RESTful APIs using Flask or FastAPI.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB and Redis.
  • Develop and maintain Docker-based applications and environments.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Write Linux shell scripts and manage deployments on Linux servers.
  • Integrate with telecom network systems and APIs for validation, monitoring and health checks.
  • Implement logging, monitoring and error-handling solutions.
  • Collaborate with QA, Network Engineering and DevOps teams to deliver scalable automation solutions.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 4+ years of Python development experience in automation or backend development.
  • Experience building REST APIs with Flask or FastAPI.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and Jinja2.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Strong Linux administration and Bash scripting skills.
  • Docker and Docker Compose experience.
  • Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD experience.
  • Experience with Git version control.
  • Knowledge of Python libraries including requests, paramiko, subprocess, schedule and pandas.
  • Understanding of HTTP, TCP/IP, DNS, SSH and API integrations.

  • Telecom or network automation experience, including 4G Core or 5G environments.
  • Experience with RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • OpenStack and Infrastructure-as-Code knowledge.
  • Pytest, Selenium or Playwright experience.
  • Grafana, ELK Stack or Prometheus knowledge.
  • Agile or Scrum experience.
