About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to join our dynamic team on a 12-month contract basis. This role is based in Ipswich with a hybrid work model, requiring three days onsite per week. The successful candidate will play a critical role in a large-scale telecom transformation program, focusing on developing automation solutions, backend services, and modern tooling that support enterprise and 5G network platforms. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a highly technical environment, utilizing modern development practices such as containerization and CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building scalable applications, REST APIs, and automation frameworks, collaborating closely with QA, DevOps, and network engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in Python development, with a strong understanding of relevant frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI.
- Experience in developing RESTful APIs and integrating with various database systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Solid knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Docker Compose.
- Proficiency in Linux environments and Bash scripting for automation tasks.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD.
- Strong version control skills using Git.
- Understanding of automation frameworks and best practices for scalable, maintainable code.
- Fundamental networking knowledge, including HTTP, TCP/IP, and SSH protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Python applications and backend services supporting telecom and 5G networks.
- Create and optimize REST APIs to facilitate seamless communication between different system components.
- Develop automation frameworks to streamline deployment, testing, and operational processes.
- Collaborate with QA teams to ensure software quality and performance standards are met.
- Work closely with DevOps and network engineering teams to implement containerization and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient deployment and integration.
- Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and adhere to best coding practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to application performance, security, and network connectivity.
- Maintain documentation of development processes, API specifications, and system configurations.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and incorporate new technologies to improve existing solutions.
