About The Role

RecOps is currently seeking a highly skilled contract Python Developer to join a prominent public sector project. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on critical government initiatives, contributing to impactful public services. The position is initially for six months, with the potential for extension based on project needs and performance. The work is primarily remote, providing flexibility to the successful candidate, with a requirement for monthly onsite visits to Leeds. The role requires active security clearance, ensuring the developer can work within sensitive and secure environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications using Python and modern frameworks such as Flask or Django, leveraging AWS cloud services to deliver scalable and secure solutions.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development with proven experience in Python programming. Essential qualifications include hands-on experience with Flask or Django frameworks, and familiarity with AWS cloud infrastructure. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain active security clearance to work on government projects. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred, along with experience working in secure or sensitive environments. Strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to development are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and deploying Python-based applications aligned with project requirements.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand technical specifications and translate them into functional software solutions.
  • Maintaining existing codebases, troubleshooting issues, and implementing enhancements to improve system performance and security.
  • Adhering to security protocols and best practices, ensuring all developments comply with government standards.
  • Participating in code reviews, documentation, and testing activities to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Effective communication with stakeholders and team members to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within scope.
