Position: Python Software Engineer
Location: London (4 days a week)
Contract: Permanent
My client is looking for a Python Software Engineer to join a global technology team within a fast-paced financial services environment. You will play an important role in developing and enhancing reliable, scalable systems that support critical business operations.
We place a strong emphasis on software quality, maintainability, testing, and engineering best practices, and are looking for someone who shares this approach.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing highly reliable and testable Python-based batch systems.
- Providing operational support for critical production systems.
- Working closely with business and commercial teams to develop new products, features, and technical solutions.
- Contributing to R&D initiatives, evaluating new technologies, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Working collaboratively as part of a global software development team.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of development processes, systems, and engineering practices.
- Working with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Requirements

- 3+ years of commercial experience developing software with Python.
- Experience working with large datasets and data processing technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Hands-on experience with SQL.
- Strong understanding of software development principles and best practices.
- Experience writing clean, maintainable, and testable code.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
