About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled SC Cleared Python Engineer to join our team on an initial 5-month contract basis. This fully remote position offers an excellent opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to the development and enhancement of secure Python solutions within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will focus on Python engineering, package management, CI/CD processes, and automation, working collaboratively with engineering, security, and platform teams to create reliable, efficient, and user-friendly solutions. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Python development, security protocols, and automation tools, looking to make a significant impact in a secure and innovative setting.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a robust set of qualifications, including:

  • Strong Python development skills with extensive experience managing packages, dependencies, and internal Python libraries using tools such as pip, PyPI, and Conda.
  • Proven expertise in Python engineering and package management.
  • Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automation workflows, and artifact repositories.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies and creating reproducible development environments across Windows, WSL, Linux, and containerized platforms.
  • Understanding of security concepts including SSO, RBAC, security scanning, and API integration.
  • Familiarity with Software Bill of Materials (SBOMs), provenance tracking, and policy-as-code frameworks.
  • Current SC (Security Check) clearance is mandatory.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks aimed at enhancing platform security, reliability, and developer experience. Key responsibilities include:

  • Building and maintaining secure Python environments and package management pathways to ensure consistency and security.
  • Developing curated package repositories and establishing controlled publishing workflows to streamline package distribution.
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, reusable templates, and developer tooling to facilitate efficient development cycles.
  • Integrating platform services with identity management, security protocols, and runtime environments to ensure seamless operation and compliance.
  • Developing automated onboarding processes and self-service capabilities to empower development teams.
  • Supporting reproducible development environments across various platforms, including Windows, WSL, Linux, and containerized environments.
  • Troubleshooting developer issues, reducing reliance on workarounds, and improving overall platform stability and performance.
  • Producing clear, comprehensive technical documentation and supporting knowledge transfer initiatives.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering teams to gather feedback, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements continuously.
