About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled SC Cleared Python Engineer to join our client's dynamic team on an initial 5-month contract. This fully remote position offers an excellent opportunity to work on developing and enhancing secure Python-based solutions within a collaborative environment. The successful candidate will focus on Python engineering, package management, CI/CD automation, and platform integration, working closely with engineering, security, and platform teams to deliver reliable and user-friendly tools for development teams. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in Python development, automation, and security compliance, looking to contribute to mission-critical projects within a secure environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Proven expertise in Python development, with practical experience managing packages, dependencies, and internal libraries using tools such as pip, PyPI, and Conda.
- Strong background in Python engineering, including package management and automation.
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automation workflows, and artefact repositories.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies and the creation of reproducible development environments across Windows, WSL, Linux, and containerized platforms.
- Understanding of security protocols including SSO, RBAC, security scanning, and API integrations.
- Familiarity with SBOMs, provenance, and policy-as-code concepts.
- Current SC (Security Clearance) is mandatory for this role.

Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for this role include:
- Building and maintaining secure Python and package management golden paths to ensure consistency and security across development environments.
- Developing curated package repositories and implementing controlled publishing workflows to manage internal and external packages efficiently.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, reusable templates, and developer tooling to streamline deployment and integration processes.
- Integrating platform services with identity, security, and runtime environments to ensure seamless and secure operations.
- Developing automated onboarding processes and self-service capabilities to enhance developer productivity.
- Supporting reproducible development environments across multiple platforms, including Windows, WSL, Linux, and containerized solutions.
- Troubleshooting developer issues, reducing reliance on workarounds, and improving overall platform reliability, build success rates, performance, and supportability.
- Producing clear, comprehensive technical documentation and supporting knowledge transfer within the team.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to gather feedback, identify improvements, and continuously enhance platform capabilities.

Benefits
This role offers a competitive daily rate of 400-575 p/day inside IR35, along with the flexibility of fully remote working.
