Our client, a leading global multi-strategy hedge fund, is looking for a Python Engineer in London to join a growing Macro & Fixed Income Data Technology team. This team sits at the intersection of technology, quantitative research, portfolio management, and trading, building the next generation of data infrastructure used by investment professionals across global markets. You'll play a key role in designing and developing a modern data platform, working closely with portfolio managers, researchers, economists, and technology teams to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions that directly support investment decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build core components of a next-generation macro and fixed income data platform
  • Develop scalable data pipelines covering ingestion, ETL, quality control, storage, and API consumption
  • Partner with portfolio managers, researchers, strategists, and technology teams to deliver business-critical solutions
  • Drive improvements in platform performance, stability, scalability, and reliability
  • Contribute to the evolution of cloud-native data architecture and engineering best practices

Requirements

  • Strong Python development experience within a backend engineering environment
  • Experience supporting trading, investment, market data, or research platforms
  • Expertise building data platforms, data lakes, warehouses, ETL pipelines, or large-scale data infrastructure
  • Knowledge of modern cloud and big data technologies such as Spark, Delta Lake, Athena, AWS Glue, or similar
  • Experience with distributed systems, databases, Docker/Kubernetes, and performance optimisation
