About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Python Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team on a 6-month contract basis. This role offers a hybrid working environment, primarily remote, with occasional travel to our offices in Leeds or London as required. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications using core Python and popular web frameworks such as Flask and Django. Additionally, you will be responsible for front-end development utilizing Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to create intuitive and seamless user interfaces. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work within a leading global IT transformation organization, contributing to large-scale government projects and making a significant impact through innovative software solutions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in full stack development with proven expertise in Python and web technologies. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate extensive experience with Python development, including frameworks like Flask and Django, and front-end skills with Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. Experience working with SQL Server databases, optimizing data storage and retrieval, and performing data analysis is essential. Familiarity with AWS Cloud Services, Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, and containerization using Docker is highly desirable. Candidates should also have a solid understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented programming, and agile methodologies. Security clearance (SC) is a strong advantage for applicants, given the nature of the projects involved.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex web applications using core Python and frameworks like Flask and Django, ensuring scalable and maintainable code.
- Drive development projects from conception through deployment, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior developers to uphold coding standards and best practices.
- Create engaging and responsive front-end interfaces using Vue.js, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML to enhance user experience.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to integrate various software components, troubleshoot issues, and optimize application performance.
- Develop and maintain SQL Server databases, including writing efficient queries, optimizing database performance, and conducting data analysis.
- Implement cloud-based solutions utilizing AWS services, Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, and containerization with Docker to support scalable and resilient applications.
- Adhere to software development best practices, including exception handling, data structures, design patterns such as MVC and MVT, and unit/API testing.
- Participate in Agile development cycles, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of features.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment focused on continuous learning and improvement.
- Ensure security standards are met, especially for projects requiring SC security clearance, and implement necessary security measures throughout the development lifecycle.
