Python Platform Engineer - Outside IR35 - 6 month Contract - Rates Negotiable - Active SC Clearance required - Start date mid October

Our client is looking for a Python/Platform Engineer to build secure, reliable and easy-to-use platform capabilities for development teams.

You’ll focus on Python package management, CI/CD, artefact repositories, automation and developer self-service, helping teams adopt secure golden paths and reduce reliance on manual workarounds.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain secure Python and package-management golden paths.
  • Develop curated package repositories and controlled publishing workflows.
  • Build reusable CI/CD pipelines, repository templates and automation.
  • Integrate platform services with SSO, RBAC, security and runtime environments.
  • Support reproducible environments across Windows, WSL and Linux.
  • Implement automated onboarding and self-service capabilities.
  • Support vulnerability scanning, SBOMs, provenance and policy-as-code.
  • Troubleshoot developer and build issues and drive continuous improvement.
  • Improve platform reliability, build success, performance and supportability.
  • Work closely with development teams to gather feedback and iterate on the platform.

  • Strong Python engineering experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of pip, PyPI, Conda and dependency management.
  • Experience with CI/CD and reusable pipeline/repository templates.
  • Experience with artefact repositories and package publishing.
  • Understanding of containers and reproducible environments.
  • Experience with APIs, SSO/RBAC, logging and audit.
  • Familiarity with software supply-chain security and policy-as-code.
  • Strong collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A user-focused mindset and comfort working iteratively.
