About The Role
VIQU IT is seeking a skilled Python / Applied AI Engineer for a contract position lasting three months, with the possibility of extension. This role is remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from any location. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting a client’s initiative to develop an advanced AI Chatbot utilizing Python and LlamaIndex technology. The primary focus will be on building, enhancing, and maintaining production-grade AI applications, specifically tailored towards retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and chatbot functionalities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python development, hands-on experience with LlamaIndex or similar frameworks, and a proven track record of deploying AI models in production environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI solutions, contribute to innovative projects, and collaborate with a dynamic team of AI specialists and developers.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a solid foundation in Python programming, with proficiency in Python 3.12 or higher. Experience working with LlamaIndex or Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks is essential, along with a demonstrated ability to develop and optimize AI applications for production deployment. Familiarity with cloud AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry or OpenAI APIs is highly desirable. Candidates should have experience integrating large language models (LLMs), APIs, and databases, along with a good understanding of structured data management. Strong knowledge of search technologies like Typesense or vector search systems, as well as experience with PostgreSQL and data validation using Pydantic, will be advantageous. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver well-documented, reliable code are critical. A background in developing secure and scalable AI solutions is also preferred.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance production-grade Python AI applications, focusing on chatbot functionalities and AI-driven solutions.
- Build, improve, and maintain RAG pipelines, including retrieval and document search capabilities to ensure accurate and efficient responses.
- Extend LlamaIndex agents, workflows, retrievers, and tool-calling functionalities to optimize AI performance and usability.
- Integrate large language models, external APIs, databases, and structured organizational data to create seamless AI experiences.
- Enhance the quality of AI-generated responses by improving citation accuracy, performance, security, and reliability.
- Write well-tested, maintainable, and well-documented code to facilitate smooth technical handovers and future development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver solutions that meet client expectations.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI and Python development to incorporate best practices and innovative techniques.
