The Role
At Unite Students, our goal is simple: to create a Home for Success. Technology and data play a key role in helping students find their home, enjoy their stay and get the most from their student experience.
As a QA Analyst, reporting to the QA Lead, youll play a key role in making sure our digital products, websites, apps and systems deliver a great experience for our students and colleagues. Working closely with Product Owners, Developers and the wider QA team, youll help shape quality from the start, identifying risks early, challenging requirements and ensuring issues are resolved.
Youll combine hands-on manual and automated testing, using tools such as Playwright and AI-assisted testing to improve coverage, speed and confidence. Youll bring a risk-based approach to testing, take ownership of quality within your area and have the confidence to raise risks when they matter.
What You`ll Be Doing
- Reviewing user stories early to ensure acceptance criteria are clear, testable and cover both expected outcomes and potential failure scenarios.
- Writing and executing test cases in Azure DevOps, with clear traceability back to the relevant user stories.
- Applying a risk-based approach to testing, focusing effort on the journeys that are most critical to students and the business.
- Building and maintaining automated test coverage within our Playwright framework, while ensuring test pipelines remain reliable.
- Running regression test packs and investigating failures to identify and resolve the underlying issues.
- Testing across a range of browsers and devices, including accessibility testing against WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Raising clear, well-evidenced defects and tracking them through to resolution.
- Identifying and escalating release risks early, whether they relate to code, data or the test environment.
- Collaborating closely with product owners, developers and the wider QA team, while developing a strong understanding of the systems and services you test.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
