Overview

Quality Assurance (QA) Auditor (Full Training Provided)
Humdinger factory, Sherburn in Elmet, LS25

Love details? Notice things others miss? Enjoy following processes and making sure things are done properly? If that sounds like you, a career in Quality Assurance could be an excellent fit.

At Humdinger, we make millions of chocolate and snacking products enjoyed across the UK, including chocolate buttons, bars, eggs, raisins, sugar-coated chocolate and much more! As a QA Auditor, you'll help ensure every product leaving our factory is safe, high quality and made to the standards that our customers and consumers expect.

  • Position type: Permanent Full-Time
  • Pay range: £33,572.28 (£15.37 per hour)
  • Key Benefits: Healthcare cash plan via paycare (Dental, Optical, Chiropody, Professional Therapy, Counselling) with a value over £400 each year
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off days, 6am - 6pm per shift (averaged to 42 hours per week)
  • Closing date: 04/09/2026

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing:

  • Checking standards across the factory, completing inspections and audits to make sure equipment, production areas and working practices meet food safety and quality standards. This could suit you if you naturally notice small details, enjoy checking work accurately, like following a clear process and have experience in carrying out checks in any environment.
  • Investigating quality issues - If something goes wrong, you'll help find out why and work with colleagues to prevent it happening again. This could suit you if you like solving problems, asking the right questions, staying calm under pressure and gathering facts before making decisions.
  • Collecting information and completing records by updating systems and maintaining accurate documentation. This could suit you if you are organised, use computer systems like excel and Word confidently and can manage multiple tasks.
  • Product quality checks and taste panels – you will taste, smell, check and observe physical chocolate products for the best quality and ensure they meet the standards we expect. This could suit you if you pay attention to the small details, can compare products consistently, feel comfortable sharing your observations and can analyse information well.
  • Building relationships with production, engineering and technical teams to promote quality standards across the site. This could suit you if you communicate confidently and respectfully, can challenge standards appropriately and build positive working relationships.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your first day will be a structured welcome induction presentation, followed by 4 weeks of training which will include a combination of on-the-job shadowing, getting stuck in and learning the day-to-day tasks of a QA Auditor in our chocolate factory, such as what GMP looks like and how we complete internal auditing.

Within your first 3-6 months, you will be formally trained in Food Safety, HACCP and Allergen Awareness, as well as general training to support you in the workplace such as Diversity & Inclusion.

Following your first 3 months, you will be enrolled on the Humdinger (Zertus) standard review process with the opportunity to explore formal qualifications such as a Level 4 Quality Practitioner Apprenticeship, or more advanced food safety/quality qualifications, chocolate process training and opportunities to shadow customer visits and meetings.

Please apply online via our careers portal: create your account, upload your CV, and answer all requested questions.

After applying, your CV will be reviewed against the set criteria and shortlisted candidates will be invited to a short telephone or Teams video conversation with our Talent Acquisition team. Successful candidates will then attend an on-site interview, including a factory tour and a problem-solving activity on Tuesday 15th September 10am-12pm. The final candidates will be invited for a short 1:1 interview with our Quality and Technical Manager on Thursday 17th September 10am-12pm.
