Energy One UK

Energy One is a global supplier of software products and services to wholesale energy, environmental, and carbon trading markets. Listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX:EOL) since 2007, the Energy One group of companies has a successful track record of providing sophisticated, practical solutions and services to Australasian and European companies operating in the fast-paced 24/7 wholesale energy marketplace.

Energy is key for growth, and mastering energy is paramount to reach net zero.

The energy industry in the UK is moving fast, with 2 concurrent trends:

  • The increase of renewable energy and its unpredictability, operated by increasingly small actors, leads to high market volatility. This volatility creates opportunities for energy traders
  • The price cap in the UK limits the revenue of energy retailers, so they need to widen their capabilities and increase their efficiency to survive

These actors rely on reliable and efficient systems to operate. If the system fails, a domino effect starts that could soon lead to big problems for wholesale and retail energy companies. Energy One UK is providing systems to more than 12% of the market, which makes it an essential actor of this global energy market.

In order to keep up with the market trends (more actors, more traders and trades, more volatility), Energy One UK need to provide the best software, which our clients can trust. The QA team at EnergyOne UK are critical to this. The challenges they are facing now are the following:

  • Leveraging AI capabilities to accelerate release cycles, and to deliver an efficient development process
  • A drive to increase repeatability & accuracy
  • Being able to detect bugs when they are introduced
  • Focus on non-functional testing, particularly on performance, scalability & security of the applications

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
