About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join a prominent defence engineering organisation based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex defence manufacturing programmes, ensuring that products meet stringent quality and compliance standards throughout their lifecycle. As a key member of the quality team, you will support manufacturing and engineering operations by driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing non-conformance processes, and ensuring adherence to industry regulations such as AS9100. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of manufacturing outputs, fostering a culture of quality, and supporting the organisation’s commitment to excellence in defence manufacturing.

Familiarity with industry standards such as AS9100 and AS9102, along with experience in managing non-conformance and root cause analysis activities, is essential. Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturing documentation is required. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
