About The Role

The QA/QC Engineer at Dornan Engineering Services Ltd reports directly to the UK Quality Manager and plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance of electrical projects. Operating within the framework of ISO 9001 standards and the company’s documented Quality Management System, this position involves overseeing electrical installations, heavy electrical equipment, and high voltage systems in a dynamic construction environment. The primary responsibilities include generating, issuing, recording, and verifying punch lists for electrical systems, ensuring that all work aligns with project specifications, safety standards, and client expectations. The role demands a proactive approach to quality control, effective communication with various stakeholders, and meticulous attention to detail to facilitate seamless project execution and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar QA/QC role within the construction or electrical engineering sector.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.
  • Proven ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and quality plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor project quality controls, raising quality issues against OFCI vendors and contractors, and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Familiarize with the scope of each system, project specifications, and installation procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Implement and adhere to the site-specific quality plans, including the general contractor (GC), client, and company quality plans.
  • Participate in quality review meetings with the GC and client, providing insights and updates on quality status.
  • Generate, track, and close out punch lists, ensuring all quality issues are addressed promptly.
  • Use web-based quality management tools to generate reports, monitor progress, and document quality activities.
  • Coordinate with clients and project teams on scheduled walk-down inspections, providing support and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Attend walk-down inspections with the GC and client, documenting findings and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Provide feedback on quality processes and recommend improvements to enhance project efficiency and compliance.
