About The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Software Tester to join our expanding testing team at MCS Group. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining three days in the office and two days working from home, providing flexibility and work-life balance. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products, working within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment that emphasizes continuous delivery and improvement. The position involves a mix of manual and automated testing, requiring the candidate to maintain and enhance existing automated test suites while executing manual tests to validate new features and releases. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to identify issues, improve testing processes, and contribute to the overall quality assurance strategy.

This role is ideal for someone with automation experience who is eager to learn more about our products and client systems, and who can quickly adapt to changing priorities and project requirements. Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess at least two years of experience in a software testing role, demonstrating a solid understanding of both manual and automated testing methodologies. Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, or similar is essential. Candidates should hold relevant qualifications, such as an OCN NI Level 4 Diploma in Software Testing, ISTQB Foundation certification, or a comparable degree or certification in software testing or related fields.

Familiarity with defect tracking and project management tools like Azure DevOps or equivalent is required, enabling effective defect reporting and test management. A proactive attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines are critical attributes. The candidate should also demonstrate a willingness to learn new tools, adapt quickly to project needs, and take ownership of tasks across multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update existing automated test suites, ensuring they remain aligned with evolving products and release cycles.
  • Design, develop, and execute manual test cases for functional, regression, and exploratory testing activities.
  • Identify, document, and track defects using Azure DevOps, collaborating with development teams to facilitate timely resolution.
  • Interpret specifications and requirements to create comprehensive test plans and test cases that cover all critical scenarios.
  • Work within tight release deadlines, prioritizing tasks effectively to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client products and systems, assessing how changes impact testing processes and outcomes.
  • Participate in team meetings, sprint planning, and quality assurance discussions to continuously improve testing strategies.

MCS Group offers a competitive salary package ranging from £30,000 to £35,000, commensurate with experience and skills. The role provides flexible hybrid working arrangements, with core hours from 10am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 10am to 3pm on Fridays, allowing staff to manage their own flex time within those hours.
