Location: UK (Remote)

Duration: 3 months +

Rate: £256 per day Outside IR35

Looking to raise the bar on quality while keeping releases fast, stable, and genuinely trustworthy? Our Client is hiring a Senior QA Engineer - Automation to lead automated testing across API and broader quality layers, helping engineering teams build a culture where quality is part of everyday delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define and evolve the automation approach for your product area (API, UI, contract, component and more)
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation frameworks and scripts that scale across teams
  • Drive continuous improvement-making frameworks cleaner, faster, and easier for others to use
  • Integrate automation into continuous delivery pipelines and optimise stable, deterministic runs
  • Investigate flaky tests, eliminate root causes, and strengthen reliability standards
  • Provide meaningful reporting on real risks (not just raw figures) to QA leadership
  • Lead by example through code reviews, mentorship, and short learning sessions for QA/SDET engineers
  • Build reusable utilities, components and libraries to improve efficiency and maintainability
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and DevOps engineers to embed testing into delivery
  • Ensure alignment with compliance and security requirements relevant to healthcare data systems

What You'll Bring

  • Strong experience in software testing, with a proven automation background
  • Proven expertise designing and maintaining automation frameworks and test scripts
  • Hands-on automation experience across tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or UFT (and/or similar)
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps pipelines)
  • Strong programming proficiency in Java and Python
  • Solid understanding of SDLC/STLC and Agile ways of working
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex automation failures and drive corrective actions
  • Confidence leading automation standards and best practices across QA teams

Additional Information

  • Pay: Outside IR35, remote working
  • Start: 3 months initially, with potential extensions if demand continues
  • You'll use your own laptop (make/model not specified)
  • BPSS is required (pay for your own BPSS)
