THIS IS A 5 MONTH FTC
The Commercial & Digital team is responsible for developing and growing UKTV’s revenue streams across sales, distribution, advertising and sponsorship, ventures, and digital. The Digital team is tasked with developing, evolving, and implementing UKTV’s VoD and digital strategy covering U digital products and platforms, and partnerships. The team consists of multi-disciplined, talented individuals across several different units: Curation, Product, and Production & Development. We are tasked with developing a world-class BVOD service, as well as complementary digital products and partnerships to grow audiences and contribute to the long-term profitability of UKTV.
Following exceptional growth in 2024, we saw direct-to-consumer views to the U app grow by 15%. U also enjoyed a 23% uplift in average monthly active users and an 18% increase in registrations. We have ambitious plans to become a VoD destination: delivering new content, features, and functionality to U, our owned and operated VoD product, FAST channels, and our pay platform partners.
Purpose of the role
This is a hybrid QA role combining both manual and automation testing, with a strong emphasis on building and enhancing the automation platform and supporting cross-platform. You will be responsible for developing scalable, maintainable automation frameworks while also supporting manual testing where needed to ensure comprehensive coverage.
The role focuses on improving test efficiency, increasing automation coverage, and embedding quality across the development lifecycle, while working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital products.
What we would like you to bring to the role…key experience, knowledge, skills & personal qualities
Experience
- Previous experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks using JavaScript tools such as Mocha and Playwright or similar.
- Demonstrable experience in building reliable, reusable, and scalable automated test scripts.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners.
- Ability to work independently and proactively create test scenarios with minimal guidance.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and provide clear, actionable documentation.
- Develop utilities, mocks, and supporting tools to improve automation efficiency.
- Manage code using Git-based version control systems (e.g., GitHub, Bitbucket).
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and standards.

What you will get to work on…key outputs and responsibilities of the role
In this role you will be in one of the squads for the U VoD app reporting into the QA Lead, being a part of our ambitious growth plans, where you will get to:
- Drive the end-to-end automation, including framework development, test coverage expansion, and continuous improvement of automation processes to ensure scalable and efficient quality assurance.
- Undertake manual testing where required across all digital platforms, including iOS, Android, Web, and TV applications, to support comprehensive test coverage and ensure product quality.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively create test scenarios with minimal guidance.
- Collaborate as part of a cross-functional team working across multiple platforms.
