About The Role
The QA/QC Engineer will report directly to the UK Quality Manager and play a vital role within the framework of the ISO-documented Quality Management System. Operating primarily in an electrical project environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and control processes related to the installation of heavy electrical equipment, high voltage systems, and general electrical services. The role involves generating, issuing, recording, and verifying punch lists for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards. The QA/QC Engineer will coordinate closely with various project teams, vendors, and clients to maintain the highest quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include reviewing and monitoring project controls, raising quality issues against OFCI vendors and contractors, and ensuring timely resolution of these issues. The role requires familiarization with the scope of each system, project specifications, and installation procedures. You will implement and adhere to the site quality plan, participate in quality review meetings with the general contractor and client, and provide feedback to improve quality processes on site. Additionally, you will generate and close out punch lists, compile quality statistics for monitoring purposes, and utilize web-based quality applications to generate reports and track actions. Coordinating with the client on schedule walk-downs and attending inspections with the general contractor and client are also essential parts of this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
