About the Role

The QA Engineering Professional supports the delivery of high-quality software products and services through effective test planning, analysis, execution and reporting. Working closely with Product, Design, Software Engineering and other business stakeholders, you will help ensure solutions meet customer and business requirements while identifying and managing quality risks throughout the software development lifecycle. The role supports reliable product delivery, protecting customer experience, improving testing efficiency through automation, and providing clear visibility of product quality and delivery readiness.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan, design and execute testing activities to agreed schedules, quality objectives and delivery priorities.
  • Perform functional and non-functional testing across UI, API, database and integrated system components.
  • Develop and maintain automated and manual test assets to support effective test coverage and efficient delivery.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing and release readiness activities.
  • Investigate, document and manage defects to resolution, validating fixes and assessing wider impacts.
  • Produce quality reporting, including testing progress, defect trends, risks and release recommendations.
  • Develop an understanding of products, business processes and technical solutions to define effective test approaches.
  • Review requirements, user stories and technical designs to identify quality risks, gaps, ambiguities and potential failure scenarios.
  • Challenge assumptions and raise quality concerns to support the delivery of robust solutions.
  • Seek clarification where requirements, designs or priorities are unclear, incomplete or untestable.
  • Testing of software deployments, release validation, test environments and data management activities.
  • Work collaboratively with Product, Design, Engineering and business stakeholders to improve product quality and customer outcomes.
  • Share knowledge, lessons learned and good practice across the team.
  • Contribute to improvements in QA processes, tools and standards while adhering to agreed governance, quality and security compliance requirements.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Ability to understand complex systems and technical solutions quickly and have hands-on experience of Agile software delivery practices
  • Knowledge of functional component, integration and regression testing techniques. Including experience of UI testing APIs and service integrations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail, in identifying defects, inconsistencies and unexpected system behaviour.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Knowledge of performance, load and other non-functional testing approaches.
  • Experience using Selenium or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience reviewing requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience using Unix/Linux command-line tools.
  • Experience of voice and telephony solutions, knowledge of Asterisk-based telephony or IVR solutions.
  • Understanding of quality governance, audit or compliance activities.
  • ISTQB or equivalent testing qualification.
  • Experience of working on sensitive/government contracts
