Quality Assurance Inspector

Location: Northampton, NN6 7SL

Starting Salary: £14 – £16 per hour. Paid weekly, 1 week in arrears

Contract: Full time, Permanent

Hours:

  • 07.45am – 16.05pm Monday to Thursday
  • 08.00am – 14.00pm on a Friday

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Quality Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in setting and operating CNC machines – or inspecting the output of one - and will possess the knowledge and skills to verify the quality of components. We are willing to consider applications from less experienced QA staff who wish to progress as long as they have experience working with precision machined metal components.

This QA position will encompass a breadth of different roles, and thus we're looking for someone who is familiar with an SME precision engineering manufacturing environment and comfortable with the manual handling of metal components.

As our QA Inspector, you will:

  • Perform patrol, in-process and final inspections of precision turned and milled components, using various inspection tools and equipment. Inspection is primarily manual using micrometers, height gauges, verniers, and screw & plug gauges. Manual CMMs are also used.
  • Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Maintain records and follow procedures as per the Company’s ISO9001 quality system
  • Review technical drawings ensuring that components conform to the required specifications and dimensions
  • Identify and document any non-conformances and work with the production team to resolve any issues
  • Investigate customers NCRs

Requirements:

To be successful in this role you should have (training will provided for the right candidate):

  • Proficient in the use of inspection tools and equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, shadowgraphs, optical measurement machines)
  • Experience of working within an ISO9001 QMS environment
  • Thorough understanding of engineering drawings
