QA Team Leader

£34,000

Yolk Recruitment are supporting a leading manufacturing business with the recruitment of a QA Team Leader. This is a hands-on quality leadership role where you'll lead the day-to-day QA function, support and develop the QA team, and make sure products meet customer, legal and internal quality standards. You'll also be involved in GMP, audits, quality control, continuous improvement and working closely with Production to resolve quality issues.

As QA Team Leader, you'll work closely with the Operational QA Manager and Production teams to maintain high standards of product quality across the site.

You'll lead the QA team on a day-to-day basis, providing direction, coaching and support while making sure all quality checks, audits and processes are completed to the required standard.

You'll also play an important role in continuous improvement, helping to identify opportunities to improve performance, reduce waste and ensure quality remains at the heart of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day Quality Assurance functions across the department.
  • Ensure packed stock meets customer specifications, legal requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Work closely with Production Management to identify and resolve out-of-specification products and quality issues.
  • Monitor shelf life and ensure any quality concerns are identified and reported promptly.
  • Carry out additional quality assessments, including dry matter and hot box testing, where required.
  • Manage the site GMP audit system and participate in internal auditing activities.
  • Support preparation for internal and external audits.
  • Assist with recording and monitoring weekly quality KPIs.
  • Support the Operational QA Manager with the day-to-day running of the department.
  • Take responsibility for the QA department in the absence of the Operational QA Manager, including managing sickness and holiday cover.
  • Review and improve line performance, including OEE, while maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Ensure employees follow relevant work procedures, instructions and company policies.
  • Ensure products are correctly labelled and meet customer specifications and legal requirements.
  • Support regular team briefings covering quality, line performance, training, health and safety and business updates.
  • Conduct annual appraisals and support the ongoing development of team members.

This is what you'll need:

  • Experience within Quality Assurance, Quality Control or a similar manufacturing quality role.
  • Previous experience of leading, supervising, coaching or developing a team.
  • Knowledge of GMP, quality standards and audit processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
