The Role
- Own performance and scalability across a platform with over 30 microservices and event-driven flows.
- Embed performance considerations into the delivery plan from the outset, rather than as an afterthought.
- Define performance thresholds, metrics, and SLOs, ensuring objective signals for automated actions.
- Design and build performance tests for individual services, simulating production load to identify breaking points.
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines to catch regressions automatically and quickly.
- Root-cause performance regressions across the stack by analyzing logs and distributed traces.
- Act as the performance advocate in design discussions, architecture reviews, and incident retrospectives.

What You'll Need
- 5+ years of experience in performance engineering, with a proven track record of owning performance across complex systems.
- Deep expertise in performance testing, including designing load models and interpreting results from load, stress, soak, and spike tests.
- Hands-on experience with performance testing tools like k6.
- Proficiency with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Grafana, or CloudWatch.
- Strong programming ability, with a solid foundation in at least one language (TypeScript is used across the stack).
- Understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and the challenges of testing services in isolation.
- Fluency in integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines.
