Joining HM Revenue & Customs as a Senior QAT Analyst, you will have the opportunity to take the lead in providing essential test support for updates, improvements, and development of both new and existing systems across various platforms and locations.
Your role will require using your technical expertise to support Project and Test teams.
Your responsibilities will include implementing DevOps principles and practices for developing Automated Testing, Operational Acceptance, and Performance Testing.
Additionally, you will play a vital role in improving team capabilities to introduce Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery on different platforms.
Job Description
As a Senior QAT Analyst, you will lead test support for updates, enhancements, and development of both new and existing systems, across multiple platforms and locations. Utilising your technical expertise and knowledge you will provide support to Project and Test teams with responsibility for using DevOps principles and practices to develop Automated Testing, Operational Acceptance and Performance Testing. In addition, you will assist in developing the Team capabilities to introduce Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery across a variety of platforms.

Your responsibilities will include any or all the following disciplines across the full range of duties:
- Design, develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Lead a team with a clear delivery focus, ensuring testing activities are aligned to project and service objectives.
- Manage the day-to-day planning, coordination and delivery of testing activities, providing oversight and guidance to testers.
- Develop and maintain Jira dashboards, quality metrics and key test reporting artefacts, including Test Execution Reports and Test Completion Reports, to monitor test progress, risks, issues and delivery performance.
- Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines, embedding automation and quality engineering practices throughout the software delivery process.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, business analysts, suppliers and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria:
- Extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing and maintaining enterprise-scale automation testing frameworks, test strategies and quality assurance approaches across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, test planning and release assurance.
- Proven experience to provide technical leadership in quality engineering, influencing testing approaches, quality standards, risk-based testing and best practices across Agile, multi-disciplinary delivery teams, while communicating quality risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Extensive experience with automation and API testing tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Postman, Bruno, SOAP UI and JMeter, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong experience in defect management, quality reporting and test assurance, including triage, trend analysis and delivery performance metrics.
- Strong experience integrating automated testing within CI/CD pipelines and managing release, configuration and version control processes using tools such as GitLab Runner, Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet and Git, driving reliable software delivery, continuous improvement and automation adoption across large-scale delivery environments.

Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of PVT, OAT and broader non-functional testing disciplines, including performance, accessibility and security testing.
- Experience of using Power BI to create dashboards, reports and visualisations to support quality assurance, testing metrics and management information.
- Experience producing Test Strategies, Test Plans and Test Completion Reports to support quality assurance and delivery governance
- Knowledge or practical experience of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies, including their application within software delivery, test analysis, defect management or reporting.
- A validated technical background demonstrated through relevant skills, industry experience and/or recognised qualifications (e.g. ISEB, ISTQB, Computer Science), including experience with test automation, API testing and modern software delivery tooling.
- Experience in line management, managing teams, mentoring staff and assuring supplier or third-party delivery.
